Altar Guild

A solid Altar Guild is the backbone of any great church service. They are responsible for preparing the altar and sanctuary for the celebration of Holy Communion for Sunday services.  Members of the guilds also prepare for special services, such as weddings and funerals.  They clean, prepare, and set out the patens, chalices, and altar linens and also care for the linens, polish the silver and brass, and care for the sacristies of the churches and chapel.

Members of the Altar Guilds perform a silent, behind-the-scenes and vital ministry for the parishes.  Membership in the guilds is by invitation of the clergy, and members are trained and assigned to a rotating team that is responsible for the services during a given week.
