Calvary ~ St. George’s Annual Meeting

 Sunday February 7th at 12:30pm, St. George’s Church

The annual meeting of the Parish of Calvary, Holy Communion, and St. George’s in the City of New York will be held on Sunday February 7th, 2021 in the Sanctuary of St. George’s Church (4 Rutherford Pl.) following the 11 a.m. service.

The business of the meeting is the election of a warden for a term of two years, an election of a warden for a term of one year, to fulfill a vacancy in the class of 2022; four vestry persons for terms of three years, and one vestry person for a one-year term, to fulfill vacancies in the class of 2022.

All those who have been in regular Sunday attendance and are givers of record are eligible to vote. If you will be attending the meeting virtually and would like to vote we ask that you fill out the form at the bottom of this page and you will be sent a link to vote on the occasion that the slate is challenged.

Scott Peeler: for a two-year term as Warden

M. Scott Peeler and his family have been members of the congregation for the past eleven years. Scott currently serves on the vestry as warden and nance committee, and he is a regular usher and lay reader. Scott is a life-long Episcopalian and is extremely happy to be a part of the Calvary-St. George’s family. In his professional life, Scott is a member of Arent Fox’s executive committee, and he leads the rm’s government enforcement, white-collar, and global compliance and integrity monitorship practice.

Jennifer Graham: for a one-year term as warden; to Fill a Vacancy

Jennifer Graham is originally from Barbados but has been living in NYC for her adult life. She has lived in the Gramercy neighborhood for 21 years and raised her twin daughters Judith and Lorraine in this community. They have been St. George’s parishioners for 17 years.

Jennifer is an Associate Principal at Perkins & Will, an interdisciplinary, research-based architecture and design rm founded on the belief that design has the power to transform lives and enhance communities. Her extracurricular passion is community engagement, professional development and mentoring. Jennifer is past-president and founder of LMNOP NYC Inc., a 50l{c){6) not-for-profit organization incorporated in 2009 that focuses on networking and professional development for architects and designers. In 2020 LMNOP was assumed by IIDA NY (International Interior Design Association) and she joined the IIDA NY Executive Board as VP of Action overseeing and stewarding the Catalyst and Equity committees. The Catalyst group will engage and support local communities through design-based service programs and education initiatives in partnership with local non-pro ts; Equity supports JEDI initiatives within the NY interiors community.

On a personal front, she loves traveling and spending time with friends, family, and her daughters, and taking advantage of the many cultural aspects of NYC.

Jonathan Ankney: For a Three-Year Term as Vestry Person

Jonathan has served on the Vestry since 2018 and has been attending Calvary-St. George’s for seven years. During this time, he has participated in the healing prayer ministry and chaired the Finance Committee. He is a management accountant and nancial consultant to small businesses and ministries by profession. He is an avid bicyclist, Toastmaster, and proud uncle of 13 children.

Elaine Criscione: For a Three-Year Term as Vestry Person

Elaine has served on the Vestry since 2018 and has been a member since 2006. Elaine’s parish involvement currently includes chairing The Properties Committee and along with a dozen members, works to maintain the care, upkeep, and use of Calvary-St. George’s buildings and grounds. She also has enjoyed long term commitments with the Creative Arts Camp, Sunday School, and Prayer Ministry. Elaine holds degrees in English, Journalism, and Marketing working with national publications for 15 years before establishing her own company, The Best of Times, in 1989. She is known for both large-scale cultural event management for Smithsonian and The New York Times and special section writing, editing, and photography in various national publications.

Rudy Moore: For a One-Year Term as Vestry Person to Fill a Vacancy

Rudy has been a member of Calvary – St. George’s for nearly eight years. He moved from Pennsylvania to New York City in March 2013 and visited us on Easter Sunday for the rst time. After this rst experience, he knew he didn’t need to look further for another church. Originally from Pakistan, Rudy is a life- long Anglican and was a member of St. Andrew’s Church, Lahore. In coming to Calvary Church, he felt like he was back home. Professionally, Rudy works in the Advertising Technology industry as the Business Development Director at Sharethrough (Native Ad Exchange). Rudy loves traveling and spending time with family and friends. He appreciates products that display exceptional design, coupled with everyday utility. Reading forms a part of his daily routine. Rudy currently assists on the Parish Finance Committee. He would consider it a privilege to be able to serve on the Vestry.

Derek Reed: For a Three-Year Term as Vestry Person

Derek and his wife Avery joined Calvary-St. George’s in 2017 and have been enthusiastic members ever since. He enjoys helping Rev. Ben host the church’s book club, and he and Avery will be adding a new face to the children’s ministry when their daughter is born this April. Originally from Fort Worth, Texas, Derek came to New York in 2008 and works as a book editor at Penguin Random House.

Steve Schimmele: For a Three-Year Term as Vestry Person

Steve has been attending Calvary St. George’s for four years. Pre-COVID he regu- larly attended the Calvary 11:00 service. He is a native of Minnesota and has lived in New York over 30 years. After college he worked with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship on campus and with the media/communications team. Prior to attending Calvary St. George’s, he served on the governing board of The City Church, New York. At Calvary St. George’s he is a member of the Properties Committee, is an acolyte and helps on the usher and clean-up teams. He also served with the Fundamentals and My Church series. Closer to where he lives, he has volunteered at a neighborhood Upper West Side soup kitchen for 20 years. Steve’s day job is with the NYC Administration for Children’s Services as the Chief Operating Officer of the Finance division. Steve is excited about the past, current and future ministry of Calvary St. George’s.
