The Annual Candlelight
Join us at St. George’s Church (7 Rutherford Place) at 4:00pm for a beautiful service of Lessons & Carols that has been part of our community on Stuyvesant Square Park for over 120 years. Last year’s attendance was the highest ever at 901 people, but we anticipate many more friends of the neighborhood will come along this December for the anticipated and momentous unveiling of the newly renovated clock towers at Stuyvesant Square, with Clarion Chimes incorporated into the service!
Additional highlights include: a new choral work sung in coptic (one of the historic languages of Christians in the Middle East), works by the highly acclaimed Norwegian choral composer Ola Gjeilo, and as always, a chance to sing your favorite Christmas carols.
Under the direction of Kamel Boutros and Alex Nguyen, the parish choirs and orchestras will perform musical settings by Antonín Dvořák, Harry Burleigh, Daniel Taylor, John Rutter, Benjamin Britten, and others, with plenty of congregational caroling binding the service together. And the exceptional young musicians of the Calvary-St. George Music Academy will perform “Mary! Did you know” with soloist Aliah Sheffield.
Children's Tableau & All-Parish Party
We present the Christmas Tableau on Tuesday, December 12th at Calvary Church, 277 Park Avenue South, at 6:00 p.m. Costume dress-up arrival time for the children is 5:00 p.m. Following the Tableau, join us for the All Parish Christmas Party in Anderson Hall for treats, appetizers, and crafts at 7:00pm. Christmas Pageant Rehearsal
