Join us as we say goodbye to The Rev. Jay Gardner, in a special rception following the 11am service at Calvary Church. Jay has been called to be the next rector of Grace Episcopal Church in Cullman, Alabama.
Jay will preach at all the services and, after the 11 A.M. service, we’ll gather in Anderson Hall. If you would like to contribute to the party and/or a farewell gift, please call the church office on 646-723-4178 and speak to Laurel.
Jay, and his wife Paige, came to us in the fall of 2016 from Birmingham, Alabama as a Wisdom Year Student at The General Theological Seminary. Both Jay and Paige fit this parish like an old coat. So in May of 2017, I invited Jay to join our clergy staff and help us continue our strong work with the families of this parish. Hence, many of you have a deep connection with the Gardners. Jay was ordained a presbyter at St. George’s Chapel, the first ordination in the parish since my own in 2006, and in January of 2018, they became a young family and added their son Will to the fold. Jay, Paige, and Will have been a huge blessing to Calvary-St. George’s and so my heart is heavy as we bid them farewell and they begin the next chapter of their ministry.
Jay will preach at all the services and, after the 11 A.M. service, we will have a special reception for him in Anderson Hall. If you would like to contribute to the party and/or a farewell gift, which I am planning, please call the church office on 646-723-4178 and speak to Laurel.
