"It’s the 1890’s. Edwin Booth, brilliant actor and a true gentleman, is as admired as he is renowned. Famous friends–from President Grover Cleveland to author Mark Twain–have long since set aside Edwin’s P.R. hiccup twenty-five years earlier when his brother, John Wilkes Booth, shot president Lincoln in the head. I guess if you grace the stage with genius and work a room with charm, you can overcome anything. Of course, you do have to get everyone to abide by one critical rule: Don’t. Mention. My. Brother. Enter Rory, the new guy, who naively greets Edwin with, “Aren’t you John Wilkes Booth’s brother?” Edwin’s civility erodes and then, when his beloved daughter tries to calm him, erupts into rage. Once the dust settles, Edwin regrets himself, and longs to apologize, but... He has a stroke.

When long-dead John Wilkes appears and offers a chance to wake up and reconcile with his daughter, Edwin agrees, even if it does involve a bizarre nether-world quest for a crown. Painful memories and difficult questions confront him: How do you reckon with your mistakes? Are you really a good person? And, of course, what do you do when your brother kills everyone’s favorite president?

This anachronistic, irreverent comedic drama gallops through history chasing down a bizarre, crazy, famous family. It’s great fun for you, but all Edwin wants is to wake up and apologize to his daughter."
